Pathways can now measure your movement using your device's camera so you can see how you're progressing. Motion capture assessments use your device's camera to capture a movement fingerprint. This fingerprint provides you and your provider with unique information that can be used in your recovery.
*Note: Currently, only the Low Back Pain Pathways utilize Motion Capture Assessments. Stay tuned as we continue to build upon this feature!
In this article, we'll walk you through how to complete a motion capture assessment.
When it's time to complete a motion capture assessment, you'll receive a new task in your Tasks for Today menu. Select Start to begin your assessment.
- You'll be redirected to the motion assessment. Here, you can watch a short video of the first movement. When you're ready, scroll down and select Get Started.
- From here, you can preview each of the three movements you'll be asked to complete. Select Next to proceed.
- Enter your height in feet and inches. Then select Next.
- You'll now need to make sure you have enough space to complete your assessment.
- You'll need enough space to complete a few simple movements, such as a toe touch.
- Turn the audio on your device all the way up or connect wireless headphones so you can hear any instructions.
- Prop your device up on an object, such as a water bottle, so that the camera can capture your full body head to toe.
- A short video will play demonstrating the first movement.
- Once the video is complete, you'll be asked to practice the movement.
- When your device successfully records one repetition, you'll be asked to complete a few repetitions of the movement. This is your actual assessment.
- This process will repeat for each of the movements you need to complete for your assessment.
- Once you've completed all your movements, your results will be processed, and you'll receive a score that indicates your current level of function.
- Your motion assessment is now complete! You can close the assessment and return to your Pathway.
You'll be prompted to complete your motion assessments on a regular cadence, usually once per week.
Note: Motion assessments are currently in a trial period and may not work on all devices. Below you will find guidelines for device compatibility. If your device does not meet the minimum requirements, you may run into errors with the motion assessment experience. If you encounter any errors and cannot complete your assessment, you can still continue with your program.
